Description

The TPS54531 device is a 28V, 5A non-synchronous step-down converter that integrates a low RDS(onhigh-side MOSFET. The device will automatically activate the pulse skip Eco-mode function at light load to improve efficiency. In addition, the 1μA shutdown supply current makes the device suitable for battery-powered applications. Current mode control with internal slope compensation simplifies external compensation calculations and reduces the number of components while allowing the use of ceramic output capacitors. A resistor divider sets the delay time of the input undervoltage lockout. The overvoltage transient protection circuit limits the voltage overshoot during startup and transients. The cycle-by-cycle current limit mechanism, frequency foldback, and thermal shutdown feature protect the device and load under overload conditions. The TPS54531 device adopts an 8-pin SO PowerPADTM package, which has been optimized internally to improve the heat dissipation performance.
