1.8V 256Mbit Serial Flash with Dual/Quad SPI W25Q256JWEIQ

The W25Q256JW (256M-bit) serial flash memory provides storage solution space, pins and power for systems with limited capacity. The 25Q series offers flexibility and performance devices far beyond ordinary serial flash. They are ideal for mapping code to RAM, executing code directly from dual/quad SPI (XIP) and storing voice, text and data. The device operates from a single 1.7V to 1.95V supply and consumes as little as 1µA when powered down. All devices are available in space-saving packages.


The W25Q256JW array is organized into 131,072 programmable pages of 256 bytes each. Up to 256 bytes can be programmed at one time. Pages can be erased in groups of 16 (4KB sector erase), groups of 128 (32KB block erase), 256 groups (64KB block erase), or the entire chip (chip erase). The W25Q256JW has 8,192 erasable sectors and 512 erasable blocks respectively. Small sectors of 4KB allow for greater flexibility in applications requiring data and parameter storage.


W25Q256JW supports standard serial peripheral interface (SPI), dual/quad I/O SPI: serial clock, chip select, serial data I/O0 (DI), I/O1 (DO), I/O2 and I/O O3. The SPI clock frequency is W25Q256JW supporting up to 133MHz, allowing an equivalent clock rate of 266MHz (133MHz x 2) for dual I/O and 532MHz (133MHz x 4) for quad I/O when using fast read I/O. These transfer rates can outperform standard asynchronous 8-bit and 16-bit parallel flash.


In addition, the device supports JEDEC standard manufacturer and device IDs and SFDP registers, a 64-bit unique serial number and three 256-byte security registers.
